Valencia SC: Race two press conference

GP2 Series: Nico, another race, another win: you're making it look all a bit too easy at the moment...

Nico Hulkenberg: Yeah! [laughs] Yesterday was not so easy, today was a bit more easy, because I took the right decision at the start and took the right line, got a few places and were P3 at the first corner, and from then on just kept my head cool and then got one place when Roldan went off the circuit because he braked too late, and then Kamui got his black/orange flag and I was in the lead, and then it was pretty steady from then.

GP2 Series: It looked like you were being fairly conservative after a quick start, and just looking for points....

Nico: Yeah, yeah, you have to. My start was okay, behind Sergio and into turn one it looked a bit hot because there were three cars in one lane, and it didn't look good: and then they crashed, and I was able to slow down the car to avoid them, which was good, and then from P3 I thought 'we can win this race today'.

GP2 Series: A 20 point lead in the championship for you now: have you considered taking a holiday from Spa to give the other guys a chance to catch up? [laughs]

Nico: No, not at all! [laughs] There are still 60 points there in the whole championship to get, so nothing is done yet: 20 points is a nice gap, but we'll just keep our head down and do a few more races, get a few more points and see from there.

GP2 Series: Vitaly, a nice comeback drive to get up to third today: it looked like you had the pace for more, but nature of the track was against you getting more...

Vitaly Petrov: Yes, but our car was really better than normal, much quicker than other people, although Hulkenberg was really quick. There are some places where you can overtake, but...

GP2 Series: Talk me through your start today.

Vitaly: First I was on the dirty side, and that was really difficult, and then I took the decision to be outside because Hulkenberg was inside and d'Ambrosio was just on my right wheel so I couldn't go across, and then it was a big mess so I almost completely stopped the car and just crawled around the second corner. Then it was a good fight, with Nunes, with Mortara, with d'Ambrosio, but the guys were maybe a little bit crazy, too aggressive maybe for nothing.

GP2 Series: Who, Perez?

Vitaly: No, not Perez, not Mortara ... Nunes was a little bit, but I don't know why: there was blocking maybe to kill the tyres, and then they couldn't stay with me.

GP2 Series: And then you had a long fight with Perez, who did to you what you did to Hulkenberg yesterday...

Vitaly: Yes, but today I didn't want to risk it: today I could have overtaken him five times in the last corner, and other places as well, but I didn't want to. I don't know why, but something inside told me not to brake late, not to overtake now: I don't know why, but it happens sometimes to drivers, so I took the decision to stay behind and wait for him maybe to make a mistake and I could go past him.

GP2 Series: 20 points the difference, and we go to Spa next: what are your thoughts for next weekend?

Vitaly: What I can say is Nico has too much luck! Today, the race before, the race before: he always had a good start, good exit to the first corner, and it gave him good wins, but this must finish sometime. We will try to push and keep the same rhythm, and we'll see at the end of the season.
