Ocean victim of Valencia chaos
Max Chilton secures 11th position

Ocean Racing Technology had a very difficult weekend in Valencia where the performances of the GP2 Main Series team were far from the ones they had expected. Max Chilton and Fabio Leimer's misfortunes started in qualifying when they could not do any better than the slowest two times of the session. The team tried to correct the problem by modifying the set up for the first race but their two drivers were then involved in accidents.

Max Chilton lost a wheel in an on track battle while Fabio Leimer had to make an unscheduled pitstop to change the nose of his Dallara which left him trailing far behind everyone else. Nevertheless, the Swiss driver fought his way back to 13th place, proving that the new technical adjustments made by the team were the right way to go.

Unfortunately the second race was not much better with Fabio Leimer forced to retire at the first turn of the first lap when Cecotto hit him violently in the rear. As for Max Chilton, this time he fought all the way back to eleventh place at the chequered flag.

"It was a tough weekend but it ended on a positive note," the Englishman said. "My race was over in the first turn of the first lap and I could not validate the adjustments we made on the car after the qualifying. Starting from the last row, I fought back and climbed to 11th position in race 2. To secure a good result was not within our reach but I think we had an experience which should be useful for the next races in Silverstone."

"We thought we lived through the worst of it in Turkey but things got even worse in Valencia," the Swiss driver explained. "Our car was competitive in the race but I could not do a single lap on Sunday and I had to change the nose of my car in the first race. But to resume the race allowed me to see that our work paid off. We now have to prepare for Silverstone."

The next GP2 Main Series races will be raced in Great-Britain, July 10th and 11th, alongside the Formula 1 championship.
