MORE POINTS FOR DPR IN VALENCIA?

25 September 2007.../David Price Racing (DPR) enjoyed the best race weekend of the season two weeks ago in Spa, Belgium, scoring the team's first podium and first championship points. Drivers Andy Soucek and Christian Bakkerud will be aiming to finish the 2007 season on a high note at Valencia this weekend, with the final two races of the season being hosted by the Spanish circuit.

The European season of GP2 racing began in Spain, with Barcelona as the location, and now concludes in the country, although the Formula One championship will not be alongside. While the F1 community heads to Fuji in Japan, the GP2 grid has its own showcase event, headlining in Valencia, a city which will host a Formula One Grand Prix street race event in 2008.

The Valencia race weekend is particularly special for Soucek as his 'home' race and with the young Austro-Spaniard celebrating a two points finishes, including a third place podium spot, in Spa, his confidence is high for further success. His familiarity with the track is an additional asset for the 22-year-old, as he says, "I've raced at the circuit many times during my career, particularly in the Spanish F3 series, so I feel quite comfortable as I know the track well. We tested the GP2 car there last November and ran well, so we should be able to continue the momentum from Belgium. We'll definitely be looking for more championship points. We were late in the season to gain them, but let's hope we can add to the ones we've got, it's our last opportunity."

Christian Bakkerud returned to racing in Spa after missing the previous two rounds with a back injury. He is hoping to join Soucek on the points table, with strong finishes his aim for Valencia. He explains, "I drove the DPR GP2 car for the first time in Valencia, so it will be a return to where it all started for us. I like the circuit, although it's not a place that I have much experience of. I hope that Andy's success in Spa will spur us all on to bring more points back to DPR and that we can lift our season. For me, I would like to end my season with two good races, hopefully with points; that's the aim. "

David Price, Team Principal, DPR, is pleased to be arriving at the last race with some points on the board. He says, "Andy's points finish on Saturday in Spa, then his podium place on the Sunday, have undoubtedly been the high points of the season for us. Everyone at DPR had a broad smile on their face after the weekend, and I hope we can keep smiling with more good results in Valencia. Andy's knowledge of the circuit should be useful to us and help us to get on the pace early. Christian's back to full health and I'm sure he'll be pushing hard to bring his DPR car home in the points, so all in all, we're feeling positive about the task ahead."

The GP2 Series a weekend of racing at the Valencia circuit with Spanish GT and Formula 3 races, and the Hyundai Festival supporting the final round of the championship. Action begins on Saturday morning, 29 September, with practice and qualifying sessions. The 45 lap feature race starts at 4pm local time. The season concludes with the 30 lap sprint distance on Sunday, 30 September at 12 noon local time.
