The GP2 Main Series hit the track for the first collective test of 2008 at Paul Ricard. The long-awaited 2008-2010 Mecachrome-powered Dallara made its official debut on the French racetrack, showing a good potential in speed and reliability. The initial feedback proved to be extremely positive for Trident Racing, as both Mike Conway and Ho Pin Tung completed the preliminary testing with the new package. Conway also attempted some runs in qualifying condition on new rubber, cruising to third place overall.

Graziano Michelacci, Mike Conway Race Engineer
"I`m quite satisfied with the good job we made on Day 1. Apart from the usual general shakedown, we started to carry on specific tests concerning the basic mechanical parts. During the PM session we put new tires on and tried some hotlapping: Mike was able to push since the beginning, showing a flawless and professional approach. Given today`s good start, we expect to continue the same way tomorrow".

Daniele Rossi, Ho Pin Tung Race Engineer
"Today we basically completed a general shakedown, in order to verify the new technical package. As the feedback was completely positive from the start, Ho Pin Tung completed all the scheduled work without any inconvenience. During the PM session we decided not to use our set of fresh tires, in order to continue in this morning`s path and then switch to qualifying conditions tomorrow. There`s a lot of work to do in the upcoming tests, but the gap from the top teams is not excessive, and we have what it takes to keep improving".
