Trident completed Paul Ricard final test.
Trident Racing was once again really pleased with the result of the second GP2 Series testing day at Paul Ricard. The drivers faced the "2D Short" track configuration with optimal results, confirming yesterday`s good feedback, and managing to finalize the team`s job in both qualifying and race condition; the only downside was the heavy traffic encountered by Kohei Hirate on his qualifying-type flying laps with new tires. Maldonado`s day was nearly perfect: the Venezuelan continued to stay in close contact with the top drivers by ending up in 6th. Trident officially completed its off-season testing program: the next step will be in Sakhir, Bahrein, for the start of a long and tough 2007 season.
Pastor Maldonado: P6 - 1`10"092
Kohei Hirate: P15 - 1`10"479
Alessandro Alunni Bravi - Team Principal
Our last session at Paul Ricard was, like yesterday`s one, particularly profitable. We were able to get all our scheduled work completed, without any sort of error or technical issue. In the final part of our off-season, we managed to verify the feedback obtained by the seven-post-rig, complete the aerodynamic tests proposed by our engineers, and optimize tire performance. When we pulled everything together, our drivers, Kohei Hirate and Pastor Maldonado, shown the quality of the job done.
Of course, we know that the hardest times will come with the start of the racing season, but we`re heading to Bahrein aware of the high value of the our preparation. I have to thank the newly-arrived engineers, able adapt to our group and our working schemes; I also want to underline the great contribution provided by our drivers, young and talented rookies that have all our trust. While they will be asked to have both consistence and performance to keep it up the top spots, the team will have to provide them the best technical material available.
