All the Trident Racing stable was looking forward to a rewarding day at Monte Carlo but Race 2 turned out to be a nightmare one for the Italian-based team. Right at the start, Stéphane Richelmi took-off from the pole and held a central line for the braking point at St. Devote.

The Monaco-based racer was then rammed by the car of James Calado and forced to end his race in a runoff area after just a few hundred meters. Julian Leal didn't have better luck as he got involved in a multi-car contact happened shortly thereafter on lap 1. On the straight that climbs toward Casinò, the Colombian got caught in a melee that put 8 drivers out of contention.

Trident Racing did not experience a lucky weekend at Monte Carlo, but the team is already preparing for the next round, scheduled at the Valencia Street course between June the 22nd and 24th.

Stéphane Richelmi, DNF "The start hasn't been one of my best, although I didn't lose to much time compared to Calado, who was alongside me. I was checking his car in the mirrors when I saw Palmer pulling alongside me on the right. When we got close at St.Devote, where the track gets narrow, I just couldn't move. I didn't block Palmer but Calado, who was behind me, did not brake and hit me. It's pretty bitter because even though Palmer had gone through, there was all the race in front of us. A second place would also have rewarded the team for their great job over the weekend".

Julian Leal, DNF “In the chaotic situation created by the crash on lap 1 I hoped to find some space to go around the backup. Unfortunately, a tire from another car was in front of my car and the stewards rightfully helped the drivers to come out of their cars before removing the debris. I kept my engine on for a lot of time and the temperatures rose: once I got going again everything seemed right but then the engine cut off and i was forced to retire".
