Trident Racing got a great feeling in the first day out of three in the GP2 Main Series Test at Jerez. The team brought on-track two young drivers like rookie Edoardo Piscopo and Venezuelan Johnny Cecotto, who made his GP2 Series debut in Monza. Both drivers delighted the team with an extremely professional approach, impressing for both speed and adaptiveness. Cecotto, who ended up the morning session in 19th , took a stunning 7th place at the end of the day despite not being able to fully profit from new tires. Piscopo, who took 16th in the morning, crashed hard in the PM session due to a brake issue, while entering the final corner before the straight. Edoardo exited his car unscattered, with some minor aches due to the hard hit. Testing is set to resume for Day 2, when Trident Racing will field Monaco driver Stefano C oletti alongside Czech Filip Salaquarda. Piscopo will rejoin on Day 3, together with Salaquarda.

Johnny Cecotto Jr.

"It was just a fantastic day. We worked together well since early morning, and in the afternoon I lowered my laptimes by almost 0.2 seconds. Honestly, I think I could have improved furthermore, because I encountered yellow flags while out for my first flying lap and I had to come back to the pits. I came back then, and clocked my fastest lap of the day, but rubber was not performing as it did before. I had a really good time dealing with the whole team. I experienced being in an hard-working and results-oriented group".

Edoardo Piscopo

"It's been my official debut in the GP2 Series. As prescribed by the rules, I started the test on new tires, which I couldnt handle well due to the lack of experience. I'm ashamed of not having tried the new tires in the afternoon, but I could do nothing to avoid a tough crash. Due to a brake failure, I ended up hard into the barriers at the last corner before the front straight. The wreck was pretty big and I feel a bit shaken, and my elbows are ache. I hope to be fit enough to rejoin Thursday, I think today we'll understand. The car is totally awesome, the best one I driven after Formula 1, and you know immediately that you're just one step away from there. I was really impressed with the overall quality of drivers, and I realized you can really elevate yourself by doing well here."
