This weekend, Javier Villa has a special appointment inside his 2008 GP2 Series race schedule: the Belgian track of Spa Francorchamps, a circuit he likes and where only the best stand out, so to obtain a good result here has even more value than almost any other track throughout the season.

Javi comes to Spa on a high after the spectacular recovery drive he had in the Sprint Race at the Valencia Street Circuit, where the Spaniard put in one of the most notable performances of this year in the F1 feeder series, finishing fifth after starting from the 21st place of the grid. This was quite an achievement, especially on a circuit such as the Valencian one, where overtaking wasn't at all easy.

In Spa, Villa is looking forward to be in the front positions from the Friday qualifying session, since his intention is to achieve the best possible result not only on the Sunday Sprint, as it was the case in Valencia, but, especially, in the Saturday Feature Race. Once having overcome the issues that prevented him from shining in several races during the first half of season, Javi has scored points in the last three race weekends, with performances that have served to demonstrate once again that his driving remains at the top level. Now with the two race weekends left before the season finishes, to be run in tracks so famous and full of history as Spa and Monza, the aim is to close his campaign by obtaining the best results of the season.

The first one of these last two assaults of the championship, on the legendary Belgian track, appears as a good opportunity for Villa. The Spanish driver likes the complicated track built in the Ardennes, with corners like Eau Rouge, Stavelot, Blanchimont or La Source that are already part of motor sport history. This is a circuit with tradition and a flavour of races from past times, where all the drivers want to stand out but only the best can, and Javi hopes to be among them this weekend.
