MORE POINTS FOR TURVEY, VALSECCHI CHARGES TO NINTH
The GP2 Series weekend ended in tumultuous fashion at Spa-Francorchamps this morning, with three Safety Car interruptions during the course of 19 laps. The frequent restarts proved problematic for iSport driver Oliver Turvey. Third on the road at the start, he struggled with a relative lack of straight-line speed that made him easy prey for others on the long, uphill drag to Les Combes. It also compromised his overtaking prospects. th Team-mate Davide Valsecchi delivered one of the race's most impressive performances. From 18 on the grid, after a raft of problems yesterday, he sliced through the field to finish eighth.
"The car felt quick and well balanced on most parts of the circuit, but I wasn't fast enough on the longest straight and that really hurt me. On one lap I was much quicker than Rodolfo Gonzalez through Eau Rouge and picked up a fantastic tow, but when I pulled out to pass I just sat there going nowhere. We'll have to pore over the data to analyse the reason. I can't help feeling we should have done a little better this weekend, but on the plus side we have scored solid points finishes in both races."
"It was always going to be difficult to do well today and in the circumstances I'm happy with eighth. I might even have finished a little higher, because I passed Adrian Zaugg on the approach to Les Combes and he bypassed the corner to keep his position. If he hadn't done that I would have had a clear run at Romain Grosjean... and from there it wasn't so far to think about scoring points. The car was good, once again, but it has been another weekend in which the results don't reflect our potential."
