Neel Jani starts 5th in Silverstone!

Racing Engineering's Neel Jani once more convinced with a solid performance, which allows him to start Saturday's GP2 race at the Silverstone track in 5th position. Borja Garcia will start the first of the two races of the British round in 15th position.

When qualifying started everything looked as if it would start to rain. However, the British weather was proving to be as unpredictable as always and the 30-minute session ended under a sunny sky.

Both of the Racing Engineering drivers used the early morning free practice to learn how to master their cars on this technically demanding track. Therefore fast lap times were not the goal. In the afternoon qualifying session, Neel immediately positioned himself 6th and ran competitively throughout the entire session. He will start the first race in 5th position.

Borja Garcia on the other hand pushed hard for a quick time on his second lap on new tyres, but unfortunately they were already past their best. Borja will therefore start from 15th position on the grid for his first race at the Silverstone track.

After securing 5th position, Neel Jani said, "I am quite happy with 5th position. In the first lap the car is really good, but in the second lap the lap time goes up quickly. Nevertheless I have a good starting position for tomorrow's race and lets see if I finally make a podium".

Borja Garcia stated, "The car is good, but I am obviously lacking experience on this track. I wasn't pushing too much on my first lap out on new tyres, but I made a decent lap time. Then I wanted to improve my time and pushed, only I experienced understeer and it wasn't possible anymore".

Alfonso de Orleáns-Borbón added, "this is most probably one of the tracks where we as a team and our drivers have the least knowledge about and I am therefore quite content with the results. Neel captured an excellent 5th position and I really hope that he makes it to the podium tomorrow. He very much deserves it. Borja didn't do badly for his first time at the Silverstone track. Given the fact that the time gaps are very small, he did a good job. I know he will be pushing tomorrow, especially as he is confident with the car. Therefore he should make it into the top 10".
