Bianchi's pole position at Silverstone

Silverstone, 9 July 2010 -- Jules Bianchi's weekend has got off to the best possible start here at Silverstone, for the fifth round of the GP2 series. Having been eighth fastest in this morning's free practice, the French Art Grand Prix driver went quickest in the decisive qualifying session recently ended at the English circuit. The young hope of the Ferrari Driver Academy completed twelve laps, the best in 1.39.189 to take his second pole position of the season, ahead of Rapax driver Pastor Maldonada (1.39.325) and Christian Vietoris, who was third in the Racing Engineering car in 1.39.423. It was a less successful day for another student of the Maranello school: Mirko Bortolotti is at Silverstone competing in the fourth round of the GP3 series, which just like its big brother GP2 series is racing on the same card as the tenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship. His track time during free practice was reduced as a result of an off-track excursion just a few laps into the session. He could do no better than twenty second in a time of 1.55.547. Quickest was Manor Racing's James Jakes (1.53.547) followed by Art Grand Prix's Esteban Gutierrez (1.53.555) and team-mate Adrian Quaife-Hobbs (1.53.610.) The GP3 runners are back in action for qualifying and the first race which takes place at 16.20, after the first GP2 leg which gets underway at 14.40.
