ROMAIN GROSJEAN POLE YET AGAIN, VITALY PETROV 6th
THE BARWA ADDAX TEAM DRIVERS ARE LEVEL ON POINTS AT THE TOP OF THE OVERALL RANKINGS.
After having dominated the free practice session, which took place this morning at the British circuit of Silverstone, the Barwa Addax Team drivers have finished the official qualifiers with Romain Grosjean taking pole position and his team-mate Vitaly Petrov in 6th place.
Romain Grosjean dominated both sessions and achieved his third pole this season out of a four possible starts. He was the only driver today to go under the 1m 26s barrier and has improved by more than a second on last year's pole time set by Senna which was 1m 26.919. There is really nothing left to add. His times were simply sensational. There can be no doubt that Romain is getting the most out of the car and the team.
Vitaly Petrov, overall leader coming into the event finished in sixth position, which did not really do justice to what he was producing on the track. He set various fast times in different sectors but he was never quite able to put it all together on one lap. He was also unlucky to find yellow flags on potentially fast lap times. Vitaly with his typical fighting spirit will be there fighting it out with the leaders tomorrow.
The Barwa Addax Team drivers continue to be the bright lights in the championship. After Vitaly's brilliant victory in Turkey, which gave him the overall lead, Romain has struck back with another pole which gives him two more points and means that both drivers are now tied at the top with 33 points a long way clear of the third placed driver on 18 points.
In the team championship the Barwa Addax Team has pulled yet further away from the rest, with the two points won today and is now on 66 points, an amazing 32 points clear of their closest rivals. Barwa Addax Team and their drivers Grosjean and Petrov are completely dominating the championship, with the season well and truly under way.
Tomorrow the first race will start at 15.00hrs local time and will be over 36 laps covering a distance of 184.971 kilometres and will include one compulsory pit stop to change at least two tyres.
