The Belgian round of GP2 in Spa-Francorchamps was the last one together for Scuderia Coloni and Stefano Coletti. As the objectives that had been set at the start of the season were not met, the team and the Monegasque driver agreed to part ways.
Scuderia Coloni and Luca Filippi will be back together for the Monza GP2 round. The pair that dominated the second part of 2011, with three wins out of four events that paved the way for a 2nd place in the drivers’ championship, will hence reunite for their home race, the same event that last year saw Luca and the team clinch a great win in the Feature Race.
Paolo Coloni: “We did a great job together last year, and frankly I would have expected Luca to be contacted by some manufacturer for a works program this season. It didn’t happen, and so we thought that an all Italian line-up for our home race would have been the best thing to do. With Filippi and Onidi Scuderia Coloni is reassessing its role of sole Italian team that helps national talents to get under the spotlight. I would also like to thank Tecno Industrial Piping, who made this possible with their support."
