In just a few hours, Spain will host the start of the GP2 Season: Scuderia Coloni gathered with all the other GP2 teams in Jerez, ready to take part in a three-day test that will be the first official event of 2012.

The team managed by Paolo Coloni will make his track debut with the 2012 line-up, with Stefano Coletti driving car #14 and Fabio Onidi taking the wheel of #15, as per the new GP2 starting numbers allocation.

Besides being the “premiere” with the new drivers, the Spanish test will also see the debut of the new Pirelli tyre specs and of the new set of aero rules. The latter in particular will give the teams more room for different set-up choices, giving them a lot of work to do.

Anyway, three intense days of work won’t scare Scuderia Coloni’s technical staff, as the team members were looking forward to getting back on track after the winter break. Jerez will also see the debut of the 2012 livery: again, red will be the dominating colour as in the most successful years of Coloni’s racing history.

Paolo Coloni: “Being back on track is a real pleasure, the whole team was looking forward to this test after the winter break and all the development work we did at home. All the guys did their best, the engineers in evaluating the new regulations and all the opportunities they will bring, and the drivers passing many hours at the wheel of our advanced simulator.

Now we have the chance to compare this with the data we will get from the track, and we really want to make the most of this three days. We know that there is a great deal of things to do, but we are confident that the results will tell that our choices were the right ones”.
