Razia wins again after dominant drive
Razia responded with some ultra-quick laps to assert his superiority.

Luiz Razia scored another GP2 Series victory for Arden in this morning’s Silverstone sprint, picking his way from fourth to first with some fine, bold manoeuvres during the opening two laps. He controlled the race thereafter and had plenty of speed in reserve. When title rival Davide Valsecchi reduced the Brazilian’s lead to less than a second during the race’s closing stages, Razia responded with some ultra-quick laps to assert his superiority.
Team-mate Simon Trummer was running 14th, but dropped towards the tail of the field following an incident on lap four. He subsequently recovered several positions and a spate of late-race accidents promoted him to 11th.
Luiz Razia comments:
“A good start was crucial and mine was excellent – the car had lots of traction straight away. Once I was ahead I tried to control the pace and the hardest part was resisting pressure from Felipe Nasr: he passed me at one point, but then ran wide. After that I managed to pull a gap and pace myself to the end. I faced more pressure when Davide Valsecchi moved up to second, but I was able to match his times and am really happy with the way the race unfolded. The team has given me a fantastic car this weekend.”
Simon Trummer comments:
“My start wasn’t too bad, but my car was slightly damaged when I was caught up in somebody else’s accident towards the end of the first lap. That didn’t cost me any places, but I lost a few when I spun on lap four. After that I was one of the quickest drivers on the track. I passed loads of cars – three of them in one lap! – and felt I could have caught Josef Kral, too, if we hadn’t had yellow flags on the final lap. My pace was good and that puts me in a confident frame of mind for the forthcoming races.”
