Alvaro Parente wants to celebrate with the fans
The 2009 GP2 Series season will end in the next weekend at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, which offers to Alvaro Parente the possibility of concluding his season on a high in front of the Portuguese crowd.
The competition that gave more drivers to Formula 1 in the last few years will visit for the first time the spectacular and selective Portuguese circuit, which will level the field. After two victorious weekends, the driver from Oporto had a tough round at Monza, losing a podium after two painful penalties.
However, Alvaro Parente is confident that he can overcame the set-up problems that he felt in the Italian circuit and be competitive at Algarve, but knows that he will have a tough job ahead. "At Monza he had some problems, mainly at qualifying, that we have to avoid at Algarve. It's a new track for everybody, so we will have to adapt very fast to find the best set-up and to be competitive", said the driver supported by Delta, TMN, Aurora Group, Geotur/Star and Cision.
Racing in his country is a great pleasure for the twenty-four years old driver. He admits to be deeply supported by the Portugueses fans, but he know that he will have more pressure on his shoulders than usual. Though, the Spa-Francorchamps race winner is resistant to the pressure and would like to give a good result to the Portuguese crowd. "It's great to race at Portugal; I can show to the Portugueses and to the people who support me what I can do in GP2. Of course, I will be more busy than usual, with media, but when I get in the car I forget everything and the goal is always the same: to be the fastest guy on track. Two weeks ago I raced at Estoril, in Superleague Formula, and everything went very well, with a win in front of the Portugueses fans. I hope that I can repeat that at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve", said Alvaro Parente
The driver from Oporto will hit the track next Friday, for the practice and for the qualifying. The races will be held at Saturday and at Sunday, one per day.
