For the last winter test session, the 12 GP2 teams met at the Paul Ricard HTTT.
This session allowed the GP2 Teams to work on development but mostly gave them the opportunity to test new drivers for the coming 2006 season. The 2005 Champ Car Rookie of the Year, Timo Glock made its GP2 series debuts at the wheel of the Art Grand Prix car.
The 3 D (3,853 km) Track Solution was chosen for these two days. Sunshine and some clouds welcomed the drivers on their first day of testing. The overall best time of the day was set by Nelson Piquet Jr. of Piquet Sport Team with 1:15:799, completing 74 laps on the Paul Ricard HTTT, as Jose Maria Lopez on Super Nova International had set the best time but was disqualified because the car was found to be underweight in scrutineering.
On the second day, this last 2005 testing session for the 12 GP2 teams has come to a short end this afternoon at the Paul Ricard HTTT due to the weather conditions. The FIA, the Teams and the Track Direction decided to cancel the afternoon session for safety reason. Indeed fog and rain came to disturb the session, however it did not prevent, the promising 2005 F3 Euro Series Champion, Lewis Hamilton at the whell of Art Grand Prix to set today's best time in 1:28:173.
The teams completed over 9 000 Km during the two day session in 2472 laps.
Looking forward to welcome the 2006 GP2 Series Team at the Paul Ricard HTTT for new testing sessions in February, the Paul Ricard HTTT Team wishes them a Merry Christmas and all the best for this 2006 season to come!
