Overall best lap time for Nelson Piquet Jr.

The 2005 GP2 Series got to an end crowning Team ART Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg just over ten days ago at Bahrain circuit, but teams and drivers are not on holidays... The 2006 GP2 Series has already started at the Paul Ricard HTTT.

The 12 teams of the GP2 Series met at the Paul Ricard HTTT for a two-day test session not to work on car setting for once, but moreover to test news drivers for the coming 2006 season.

Sixteen of them are totally new in the GP2 Series picture. That is how one could see 2005 World Series by Renault Champion Robert Kubica (Poland) at the wheel of a Durango car or Luca Filippi, F3000 Italian Trophy 2005 Champion at the wheel of a Coloni car. Alvaro Parente, British F3 2005 Champion tested with DAMS and iSport...

The overall best times were set by GP2 2005 race winners though, with Nelson Piquet Jr. setting the overall best lap in 1.15.565 with team Piquet Sport and Jose Maria Lopez at the wheel of ART GP.

The teams completed over 10 000 Km on the 3D track solution of the Paul Ricard HTTT (3,853 Km configuration which includes the two South and North chicanes in the Mistral Straight).
