Rodolfo Gonzalez joins Trident Racing at Nurburgring

The GP2 Main Series will be back on-track next weekend for the 5th round of the season. Trident Racing is already heading towards the Nurburgring: the fascinating German venue will give a picture perfect frame to the halfpoint of 2009.

Trident Racing will carry a new driver, as Davide Rigon will hand his car for the round to Venezuelan driver Rodolfo Gonzalez, making his debut in the GP2 Main Series. The 23-year-old has previously entered the GP2 Asia Series, and is currently racing in the Euroseries 3000. At Nurburgring, Gonzalez will pair Angolan Ricardo Teixeira, part of Trident Racing since the last rounds of the last Asia Series.

The team is currently waiting for some responses regarding the economic support that would allow Davide Rigon to keep running from the upcoming round. As Trident Racing invested in Rigon with confidence, the whole team is looking forward to some positive news and to see him back in the car soon.

The Nurburgring weekend will be disputed with the well-known schedule. Free practice will run from 11:55 to 12:25, followed by qualifying, from 16:00 to 16:30. The first race will be held at 16:00 on Saturday, while the second will be kicking off on Sunday at 10:30. All the weekend will be followed live in Italy by Sky Sport. RAI will also cover race 2 live.
