The Formula GP2 will present changes on it weekend shedule that will start to use on the Nurburgring meeting. The news is about the second race that the series usually disputes on Sunday.
From the 80km or 30 minutes that the series used until Barcelona for the sprint race, will pass to a format of 120km or 45 minutes of competition. The reason to this changes are related to the new weekend timetable that the Formula One will use at Nurburgring that cancel the qualifying session of Sunday morning.
About this new race format, the series organiser, Bruno Michel, commeted: "The increased length of the second race is good news for the GP2 series. It is an welcome bonus, as it will allow more scope for the entertaining battles we have been treated to thus far in 2005. I'm happy that the GP2 series will be able to provide the fans with an extra dose of excitement", he said.
The GP2 technical team tested during the week some of the cars elements that had problems at Mónaco to improve the reliability now that the ware of the machines will be even more.
All the others rules of the sprint race ( such as hour, points or grid format) will continue as they were since the season start at San Marino.
The Nurburgrig round wil be the fourth on the series that arrives with Heikki Kovalainen as leader in the standings with 28 points followed by Gianmaria Bruni, 26; Scott Speed, 25; Adam Carroll, 23 and José María López tied on fifth place with Nico Rosberg with 17 units.
