GP2 Main Series' Portuguese team want points in Germany
Three weeks ago at Silverstone, Ocean Racing Technology reached their primary goal of their debut season in the best Formula One feeder series, the GP2 Main Series, securing their first podium courtesy of Karun Chandhok. The Portuguese team has since packed their bags and headed to the Nurburgring for the coming weekend's races, complete with the intention to add even more points to their tally before leaving Germany on Sunday evening.
After several races spent with the front runners, but unable to secure a concrete result, Alvaro Parente is aiming to open his scorecard at the Nurburgring. Meanwhile, teammate Karun Chandhok knows that the 3rd place he secured in the United Kingdom was the fruit of some intensive work on behalf of Ocean Racing Technology which went from the role of a rookie team to that of challengers for top spots. "It was deserved because the team is working so hard and does not hold back on their efforts. We should have won the prize in Monaco but the start of our season was marred by several incidents and bad luck. I'm looking forward to the Nurburgring in order to prove that this phase is behind us. Our car is better each race which makes me think Ocean Racing Technology can fight for the podium again," the Indian driver said.
Alvaro Parente approaches the Nurburgring event with the same determination he had since the start of the season. The Portuguese driver knows that he can count on his car and the team in order to obtain a good performance in the first race, provided he avoids all obstacles in qualifying. "For a start, we need to be high on the grid. I have been there several times but I was never able to benefit from it and I hope that I will be able to at the Nurburgring, at last, and my aim will be to have a good qualifying for the first race and then to have a good clean and faultless race in order to be able to secure two good results. The team is really motivated and has the potential to run with the best. I hope I will give them a reason to smile in Germany," Parente said.
Weather forecasters do not rule out possible surprises over the weekend as on Friday, the sky should be overcast and the possibility of downpours are even stronger for Saturday and Sunday.
