The Bridgestone-supported GP2 Series heads to Germany for its sixth round, where two races on Bridgestone's medium compound GP2 slick racing Potenza will be played out on the demanding Nurburgring circuit, scene of the Grand Prix of Europe on July 20-22.

The medium compound Bridgestone Potenza was used in Bahrain and France and drivers Nicholas Lapierre (DAMS), Giorgio Pantano (Campos) and Javier Villa (Racing Engineering) have all won races this season thanks to it.

Maintaining tyre condition through the course of both races will be key, as the circuit requires a good amount of grip in the slower areas. This has to be achieved without the assistance of high downforce, as cars need less drag for the higher speed sections of the track.

Sector one requires good traction from the Bridgestone Potenzas through and out of the low speed corners. The faster second and third sectors require good stability from the Potenzas, to maintain the high speed cornering and help give drivers confidence through the turns.

Just four points separate the top three in the drivers points' standings, with Timo Glock (iSport) on 39, Lucas di Grassi (ART) on 37 and Luca Filippi (Super Nova) on 35. The Nurburgring round is a home race for German Glock, whilst Andreas Zuber was born in neighbouring Austria.

Quote from Hirohide Hamashima - Director of Bridgestone Motorsport Tyre Development

"For the next round of the GP2 Series in Germany, teams will return to Bridgestone Potenza medium compound tyres. We hope conditions will be good, as they can often be varied at the Nurburgring circuit. It is an interesting track with slow and high speed corners, which is technically challenging for the drivers and the GP2 teams. This circuit also offers plenty of opportunities for overtaking which could make for an entertaining race."
