SCUDERIA COLONI PREPARES FOR HOME RACE
After a great weekend in Spa, where the team clinched a second place in Race 1 and the third step of the podium in the Sprint Race with Alvaro Parente, Scuderia Coloni is preparing for the Monza weekend.
Coming out from the Belgian event with two podium finishes, the first one recovering from P16 on the grid, gave the team a big confidence boost and the staff is really charged-up.
Add to this that Monza is the home race for the Italian squad, and it's easy to understand how much energy is being put in the effort to prepare two really fast cars for the GP2 Main Series next event. Looking at the past, Monza has always been a good track for Coloni: in 2006 the team won both races, with Giorgio Pantano finishing ahead of future F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton; in 2008 Roldan Rodriguez got second place and in 2009, debuting as Scuderia Coloni, the team won the Sprint Race with Luiz Razia.
To keep this performance level the team is still defining its drivers line-up for the event, even if it has already been decided that Alvaro Parente will keep the seat after his staggering performance one week ago.
Paolo Coloni: "Monza is a very important race for us and we are approaching to it in the best possible way. The Spa results gave everybody in the team a great charge and now we want to keep this momentum, keeping the same very high performance standard for the last races of the season. To do that we are working very hard at our workshop, also using our new simulator, and thinking about the ideal line-up to tackle a very difficult track like Monza, where the car is very difficult to control due to a low downforce setup. We want to do well also to thank our fans for the big support they are giving us, we know that a lot of them will be on the Monza grandstands, and also to say thanks to all our sponsors".
