The GP2 2008 season reaches its climax with the two races to be held at the historic Italian track of Monza, this will be the tenth race weekend in a year in which Javi Villa has not been able to obtain the results that he had hoped for at the start of the campaign.

After his magnificent performances in the 2007 Series and following some very promising results in the preseason tests, the Asturian driver faced 2008 with the chance to confirm his ability in the F1 feeder category. However a series of problems in the first races began to affect Javi's season and it has not given him the possibility to shine, mostly as a result of reasons outside his control.

Even so, Villa has still shown flashes of his undeniable talent, even if he has been unable to achieve the result that would put him back at the top of GP2. This is still something that he will try to do in the two races that close the 2008 weekend at the Italian track.

Monza is a location full of tradition and it is a place where all the drivers want to shine. With its legendary corners such as the Parabolic and the Lesmo Curves, the Milanese layout continues to be an authentic "temple of speed" although the chicanes that have been added throughout the years abruptly interrupt the speed of the single-seaters and makes it very difficult to reach the ideal compromise in car set-up, that is to have an agile car in the turns and, simultaneously, one able to develop the maximum speed on the straights.

To be able to solve this difficult equation will be the first task of Villa and his team during Friday's Free Practice session, and the clear objective is to gain the best possible grid position in the afternoon Qualifying. This would allow Javi to start the Saturday Feature Race with the chance to finish in one of the top spots.
