HO-PIN TUNG SCORES NINTH IN THIS YEARS' LAST GP2-RACE
In this years' last GP2-race Chinese racing driver Ho-Pin Tung scored a ninth place at the finish line on the sacred grounds of the Autrodromo di Monza, Italy. He took off from 18th place on the starting grid, his Trident had a good pace allowing China's promise to attack and to conquer several places.
This weekends' first race, on Saturday, showed also an impressive march on the head of the field, gaining ten positions. A leaking radiator ended his great leap forward. Ho-Pin Tung seems to have a patent for super starts, this year he overtook many of his colleagues in the first laps, by clever driving.
At the end of the 2008 GP2-championship, won by Giorgio Pantano, Ho-Pin Tung looks back at a season with very different results. Highlight, no doubt was his second place in Monaco, where he shared the rostrum with his teammate Mike Conway. In many races Ho-Pin Tung performed strongly and the pace was there, but as often the rewards stayed away. Mechanical failures and collisions ended more then once his aspirations for a points finish.'If you would like to characterize the 2008 championship I would say: it had much more potential successes in it then the results I scored.' And Ho-Pin adds: ' I don't look back anymore, I look forward now to the future.'
