Highs and lows for Clivio in Monza

It was an eventful race for Clivio in Monza. He was the last driver to pit and led the race for five laps before coming in for his pitstop on lap 19. An error with the pitbox speed limiter caused Clivio to pick up a drive- through penalty which relegated him to 11th position and out of the points.

Clivio:
"My get-away was good and I managed to avoid the incident between Pla and Mondini which happened right in front of me. At the first corner, everyone was on the inside line and I went for the outside so I managed to pass quite a few cars. Then things calmed down a bit in the field. On lap 2, the Prémat crash left a lot of debris on the track and caused the Safety Car to come out.

The first set of pitstops then started with the pace car on track and my team decided to call my team mate in first. The car was running well, and I was posting consistent lap times so we decided I should stay out as long as possible. When Lapierre came in on lap 14, I took the lead for five laps until my pitstop on lap 19. I hit the brakes as I entered the pit lane and put on the limiter, but when I accelerated, I realised the limiter hadn't come on. I managed to reactivate it but it was too late.

The actual pitstop went well and I rejoined the track in P8. All was going to plan but then I was awarded the drive-through penalty for speeding in the pitlane which affected the end of my race. The car felt better than yesterday and we'll make some small changes overnight so I'll just have to give it my best shot tomorrow."
