It was a disappointing race for Clivio Piccione on his home track in Monaco as the Durango driver was set to challenge for a podium finish before crashing after completing 11 laps.

Clivio Piccione started from the third row of the grid in his first home race in Monaco after qualifying in sixth position. As the race got underway after an aborted start, Clivio swerved past the stalled David Price Racing car of Olivier Pla before overtaking Scott Speed going into the first corner to take him up to 4th position.

On the next lap, Clivio's electric pace continued. He posted the fastest lap time and continued to break away from fifth-placed Speed. By the eighth lap, Clivio had gained an advantage of nearly four seconds over the American driver and was chasing Adam Carroll for a podium position.

Clivio maintained his track position until the twelfth lap when the Monegasque driver took the chicane on the exit of the Swimming Pool too quickly. As a result, he flew over the curb before hitting the wall and crashing out of the race.

Clivio:
"I'm really disappointed with my result today as we were pretty much guaranteed a podium position which would have been fantastic here at home in Monaco. I'm also disappointed for all my fans and family who have come here to watch. It's been a fantastic experience racing in front of my home crowd and it's a shame I couldn't have given them something to celebrate. My pace was there today and I felt very confidant with the handling of the car so I'm hoping the next races will be more rewarding."
