Karun Chandhok crossed the finish line of the first race in Monaco in seventh place on Friday, ensuring the Indian racer not only two very valuable points, but also a position on the front row of the grid for Saturday's second and final event of the weekend. The Ocean Racing Technology drivers had differing fortunes however as starting on the third row, teammate Alvaro Parente was in a strong position to secure points as well when contact with one of Monaco's barriers forced him into retirement.

Both Ocean Racing Technology drivers were fastest in the race at some point and Karun Chandhok is very pleased with the overall result "I'm very happy. I was 15th at the end of the first lap and I knew that in Monaco I'd have a hard time gaining back lost ground. We made an early pit stop and from then on I could push hard thanks to a clear track. This 7th place is a result that will give all the team confidence," said the Indian driver who secured Ocean Racing Technology's first points in the GP2 Main Series. "As for Saturday's race, above all I want to take a good start and from there to defend my position among the front runners."

As for teammate Alvaro Parente, the Portuguese driver regrets the incident which cancelled out all his efforts and hard work over the weekend, as well as a position in the points. "This is a race to forget. I did not make a good start and I lost a position. The aim of my strategy was to catch up and gain some positions, but my race was not perfect and I lost several other places during the pit stops. I pushed hard to try to get into the points but I hit a barrier when 8th place was within my grasp and my race was over. I will start from the back of the field on Saturday, so I can't expect a lot from there" admits Parente.
