From midday on Thursday Javier Villa and his fellow GP2 competitors will have one of the most awaited moments of the year: driving their Dallaras through the historic streets of Monte-Carlo, venue of the most prestigious F1 Grand Prix of the season and where GP2 will have its third race weekend of the 2008 schedule. This year, for the first time since the F1 feeder series has raced at Monaco, there will be two races to be held through the twisty Monegasque circuit instead of just one as in the three previous seasons.

For Javier Villa this Monaco double header looks like the ideal moment to try to get his first podium of the season. The Spaniard has scored points in the two previous race weekends held at Montmelo and Istanbul, but couldn't finish as high as expected in any of the races, always because of factors not related to his driving skills. With the good performances of his Racing Engineering teammate Giorgio Pantano as a point of reference, Javi will try to get involved in the fight for the top places on the difficult Monte Carlo track. To achieve this he is hoping that everything works to the maximum with his Dallara so he can run among the fastest from the start of the free practice session due on Thursday at 12:00. Then from 16:30 the qualifying session will take place, something that is absolutely crucial on a track where overtaking is almost impossible. Getting a place in the first rows of the grid will be Villa's target in the half an hour qualifying that should be really frantic and where is as important be fast as it is to be lucky enough not to get any traffic on the best lap.

The different schedule of the Monaco race weekend will continue on Friday, when 11:15 sees the start of the 45 lap Feature Race which will decide, reversing the order of the top eight, the starting grid for the Sprint Race, due on Saturday just after F1 qualifying and under the eyes of the F1 team principals and the huge amount of press always present at the Grand Prix of Monaco, the race with the most media impact of the whole season.
