NO FORTUNE FOR HO-PIN TUNG IN CASINO MONTE CARLO

'A weekend to forget quickly on my behalf', grumbles Ho-Pin Tung at the end of a weekend full of spectacle in Principality of Monaco. Both the Formula 1 circus and the GP2 performed in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo. Ho-Pin is third and spare driver of the Renault Formula 1 team and he came to Monaco to do even better than his best result here, second in GP2, two years ago. 'I could not match my earlier result here, so there is very little to be proud of.'

'However', he adds optimistic, 'my lap times in qualifying were good, unfortunately I was forced to slow down in the last part of the session, while others were able to improve their times.' Team mate Jerome d' Ambrosio, did a very good job and so did our team by taking the victory in Saturdays' Sprint race and the colleagues at the Renault Formula 1 squad did also very well.

'There will be new opportunities, this is how it goes in auto sport,' the young Chinese reflects. In Friday's race Ho-Pin was in tenth position after a slow pit stop and he was well under way, according to his lap times, when he crashed the DAMS racing car in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo. Also the Sprint race, on Saturday was looking good for Ho-Pin, until vibrations probably from the gearbox had him to park the car in the DAMS pit box.
