"I love street racing" says Alexandre Premat
"I went to Barcelona aiming to finish on the podium and I did in both races winning the first one. I come to Monaco with the same goal. It's great to go to Monaco on the back of such a positive result for the team in Spain and I hope we'll be able to carry the strong performance through. Monaco is the race everyone really wants to win, but it's such a different challenge to anything on the calendar. Now I've moved into third place in the championship and I'm definitely in the hunt for the title.
I love street circuits and I've won at similar venues like Norisring, Pau and Macao. Winning at Monaco would complete the set for me. It will be difficult to overtake there so getting a good position in qualifying will be vital. A good test will be the short free practice session. I raced at Monaco last year and was in third before I developed a tyre problem. Even though it is the slowest race of the year, it feels like the fastest in the cockpit because the track is so tight.
I've always loved the circuit and remember watching Ayrton Senna race here. It's an amazing place and I just love it. It's all so glamorous and like being in a living legend with the famous tunnel and landmarks. But you don't have any time to enjoy any of it while you're driving one little mistake and there's nowhere to go except into the barriers. But you have to be brave and the key to a good lap time is not to be afraid and use every inch of track up to the barriers. There aren't many run-off areas and you have to set the car up with a perfect balance so it's as predictable as possible."
