This weekend the French track of Magny Cours sees Javier Villa start the hectic GP2 summer season which involves him taking part in three race meetings in just 20 days. The French, British and German F1 Grands prix will be the venues for the next three GP2 dates as the season enters its most decisive time.

At this crucial point of the year, Villa arrives in the best possible state of mind as his excellent results in last week's GP2 test sessions at Paul Ricard show. At the French track Javier was always among the fastest while working on the ideal setup on his Dallara for the forthcoming races.

At Magny Cours the Spaniard will have his first chance to deliver the high expectations created in his team after the tests. Furthermore, the presence alongside him of the fast and experienced Venezuelan driver Ernesto Viso, who will drive for Racing Engineering at the French track, will mean an extra challenge and a perfect benchmark for Javi to spur him onto the best qualifying times, his main target in order to start Saturday's race with a chance to shine.

Magny Cours is a track Villa knows well after competing there last year in both the Spanish F3 Cup and the GP2 series, finishing all the races and gathering a lot of experience. This will be invaluable at the weekend as it will allow him to go flat out straight away looking for fast times instead of having to spend some time learning his way around the circuit. With its succession of fast corners linked by slow hairpins and very quick chicanes, Magny Cours is a complex and technical track where the perfect suspension setup is crucial to have a car both efficient over the high kerbs at the chicanes and also quick on the smooth surface of the rest of the track.
