Coloni Motorsport drivers had a difficult qualifying session at Circuit of Magny-Cours. The Italian Gimmi Bruni and the Austrian Mathias Lauda will respectively start in sixth and eleventh row on the grid.
Gimmi Bruni: "Unfortunately, with the first set of tyres I found yellow flags at 14 corner due to an incident involving Neel Jani. For the second stint, we decide to make some changes to the set-up but it did not pay. Anyway, I am not frustrated, tomorrow we will have a long race for improving things. It will be extremely important to make a good start and to not take any risk at the first hairpin, then we need to arrange a good pit stop strategy. For the championship position it is always important to finish each single race and to score points. I am confident."
Mathias Lauda: "It is a shame, because the car was not so perfect to drive. In fact, I suffered a bit of over steer in the fast corner. In respect of this morning free practice, we improve in the slow corner but on the other side we did not find a good grip and I did not feel a big improvement with new tyres. For tomorrow, I hope to finish the race close to the points, in order to start in front on Sunday race".
Paolo Coloni - Team Principal: " I would like to congratulate the French Teams whose have been able to set the pace in their home Grand Prix. I think it will be difficult to battle for the victory with Bruni, but we are confident: in fact, our car was performing well in race conditions and tyres was stable and constant. I expect a tough race at Magny- Cours because it's quite difficult to overtake here. After a disappointing free practice for Gimmi due to an engine problem, we found a reliable car but we lost a big part of the session and we had not time to set-up the car for qualifying. Mathias Lauda did not make any mistake but we need to find much more grip on his car: I am looking forward to seeing Mathias close to the points position in Race 1."
