Coloni Motorsport started the French Grand Prix at Circuit of Magny-Cours with the free practice session.

Gimmi Bruni have been using a new Renault engine and therefore went on the track for the installation lap on wet tyres. After one lap the Italian driver came to the pit for a check and then went back on the track with new Bridgestone tyres. Bruni was immediately on the top positions scoring the second fastest time early in the session. Unfortunately, after few laps, the 24-years old Coloni Motorsport driver was forced to come to the pit due to an engine problem.

Gimmi Bruni: "I suffered an engine problem, probably the oil pump. It was a shame because we just installed a new engine. Anyway, the car was performing well and I took my time without pushing hard. Now, we will change the engine for the qualifying session: I am looking forward to scoring a good lap."

Mathias Lauda went on the track with grooved tyres and did a good job with his car engineers, improving his times lap by lap. Lauda felt very well the car in the fast corners like Estoril and in the last stint was able to go half a second faster then his previous best time.

Mathias Lauda: "The car was very good in the three fast corners and easy to drive, but in the slow corner I suffered under steer and I lost a lot of time. In the first few minutes the track was a bit wet due to the this night rain, but after some laps it was good. Now, We will analyse all the telemetry data to improve my car for qualifying practice."

The Qualifying practice will be at 15:30
