Southwater racer Jolyon Palmer is hoping home advantage will help him secure his second win of the season during the next GP2 rounds at Silverstone this weekend (6-8 July).
The 21-year-old, who picked up his maiden win in the F1 feeder-series earlier this year at Monaco, will take to the Northamptonshire track racing alongside the Formula One World Championship as part of the British Grand Prix.
It’s a track the West Sussex racer knows well, having won there in 2010 on his way to finishing runner-up in the FIA Formula Two Championship. He also secured a top 10 finish last year during his rookie GP2 season.
Jolyon also hopes to bounce back after a frustrating weekend last time out in Valencia where he ended with two non-finishes during two very eventful races. “Last time out was a disastrous weekend in terms of racing, all stemming from an incident at the start of race one,” said Jolyon. “I am now going to put the dramas of that weekend behind me and focus on Silverstone. I enjoy the track there and know it well. The iSport team have had good success there and being my home race I will have a lot of support so I am hoping to be challenging for the win.”
Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2012 GP2 Series gets underway at Silverstone on Friday 6 July.
