Premat salvages seventh in race 2 at Istanbul

Sunday, 27 August 2006 - Here I am after the Turkish Grand Prix weekend having earned six more points and now a total of 62 points. I couldn't make it to my objective and score a second consecutive podium this weekend. I had to start from sixth place because the top eight positions are reversed after race one where I had finished in a strong third place.

I was not feeling great this morning with a bad sore throat and coughing quite a bit. This may have been the reason why my start was not fantastic and could have gone better. I was forced to go wide into the gravel on the first lap. Zuber was leading and Di Grassi, Caroll and Negrao were being very difficult to pass. I lost a bit of time.

Later I was involved again in a slight contact with Pantano, Piccione and again Di Grassi. Fortunately it did not to any real damage to my car. The 23-lap race was really hard. My car was very difficult to drive. Unfortunately the strategy did not let me match my team mate's achievement who started from seventh and finished on the podium.

Today's race in Turkey was more difficult than I expected and I am really disappointed I couldn't make it onto the podium again. However, I remain focused and heading to Monza, the last race of the season, I'm determined to end on a high and claim another win.
