GIMMI BRUNI WINS IMOLA RACE FOR TRIDENT RACING

Gimmi Bruni dominated the Imola long race and brought the Trident Racing team to its first victory. Pole position and a race victory in the second round of the 2006 GP2 Series. A smiling and maybe a little moved Maurizio Salvadori commented: "Hard work always rewards." A straight to the point comment that fully describes the key to this success. Italian Popstar Max Pezzali was present in the team box and also stated: "I was immediately impressed by both the technical level of the GP2 Series and the professionality of the Trident Racing team. It was great to have participated in today's race.

Gimmi Bruni # 26 - Winner Race 1

"I am happy. Today everything went the way it should have and I brought home a victory for which I thank the whole team. I dedicate this race to my friend Pietro Saitta, who passed away one month ago, this victory is for him. Getting back to the race, I maintained control and the lead throughout situation without any particular problem. Today was simply my day but if the team continues to work like this, I think we will see more days like this."

Andreas Zuber # 27 - retired

"The race was going in the right direction for me, I was able to regain several positions reaching seventh place which would have guaranteed me the first row in the starting line up in Sunday's race. All of sudden I felt something went wrong in the right rear tyre. I must have hit some debris that cut the tyre, consequently the tire blew and I had to withdraw from the race. Unfortunately now I will have to leave from the seventh position instead of the starting line. However I am sure that it won't be long before this car gives me satisfaction."
