GP2 JOINS THE F1 PARTY

Adam Carroll returns to Imola, the home of his first GP2 victory, knowing this year he faces a much tougher time.

Unscathed from last week's terrifying triple roll through a Valencia gravel-trap, the 23 year old from Portadown in Northern Ireland is relishing getting back in his car, even if it is mostly a new one!

"I felt absolutely fine in the days after the roll. I just can't wait to get racing again. My team, Racing Engineering, have been rebuilding the car all week. We managed to save the tub, the engine and gearbox. The rest is in a Spanish bin!"

Last year Imola was the first round of GP2 and Adam took no time in getting to grips with the circuit and the car. He challenged for the win in race 1 before taking the victory in race 2.

It was the perfect start to his season: "There's no doubt it will be much harder this year. We need to improve the way the car is performing -- not just one thing but a little bit of everything will make a big difference. Also all the teams have been there and now have a good basic set-up. It's going to be difficult again this weekend."

"It's a circuit that I really like, most drivers do. It's not the easiest place to put a good lap together but if you ride the kerbs and get the braking right, then it's a great place."
