Traffic hampers Ocean Racing Technology's results

The performances from Ocean Racing Technology during qualifying on Friday for the Hungarian round of the GP2 Main Series, was severely hampered by heavy traffic on the Hungaroring circuit. On a track which is notoriously slow and difficult to pass on, Alvaro Parente and Karun Chandhok were unable to get one clean lap and as such lost precious tenths that saw them both lose several places on the starting grid.

Therefore, Parente, who was only 93 hundredths off pole position, will start from the 7th row of the grid for race one while teammate Karun Chandhok had even less success and will start from row ten. These results will force the Ocean Racing Technology duo to redouble their efforts in an attempt to move up into the points. The disappointment is obvious for Parente because he was fifth fastest in earlier practice... "My fast lap on my first set of tyres was interrupted by red flags and with the second set I could never match any of my previous sector times because I was missing grip. I will try to move into the points on Saturday in order to be in a good position for the second race," explained Alvaro Parente.

Karun Chandhok was also delayed by traffic, the Indian driver and his engineers now work out the best strategy to help gain a few tenths a lap for the race on a circuit where overtaking is far from easy. "It was a difficult qualifying where we could feel that we never get the most of the car because the grip got worse and worse and it was difficult to handle the car in the corners. Together with the traffic it made me finish the session 1.3 seconds from the best times which means I will start well down the order. I hope the rest of the weekend will be better," Karun Chandhok said.

The Hungarian races will be broadcasted by the Eurosport 2 channel, on Saturday at 4:45PM and Sunday at 7:00PM (UK Time).
