PLA ON FRONT ROW FOR 2ND BUDAPEST RACE
Olivier Pla will start tomorrow's second race of the Hungarian weekend on the front row of the grid after finishing today's 42-lap "Feature" race in 7th position. It was, however, a difficult debut for team newcomer, Giorgio Mondini. Despite setting very competitive lap times, comparable with his team mate, he was unable to record his first GP2 finish. Investigation of a possible engine hesitation ended his race in the pits.
Two-time race winner, Pla, said afterwards: "I made a good start but it was quite a difficult race because from the beginning and, I don't yet know why, I had a big problem with the balance of the car and a lot of oversteer. As soon as we stopped and changed tyres there was an unbelievable difference and I could manage quicker laps afterwards. I wanted to score more points today but we are on the front row tomorrow so that's really good."
After a faltering start, Giorgio Mondini started to get to grips with the GP2 car and put in some good lap times.
Team Principal, David Price takes up the narrative: "It's a shame Giorgio didn't have a very good debut, but we have to make some allowances as he was in an unfamiliar car and at unfamiliar circuit, up against a strong field which has done thousands of kilometres in these cars. It was an extremely difficult situation for him but he's determined to improve bit by bit and that's all we can ask of him. Olivier drove a good race and proved once again that you've just got to be there at the end."
