Timo Glock is on fire in the GP2 Series after his move to iSport International, today he achieved his second career victory in today's sprint race held at the Hockenheim circuit. Argentinean Jose Maria Lopez took home second place and the current standings leader Lewis Hamilton finished third.
Nothing better than a home victory for a driver and Glock was able to enjoy it after a steady pace that put him in front of the field on the final lap of the competition.
"I tried to do it yesterday but I didn't want to believe it until I actually crossed the line today. I woke up this morning and said to myself that today I was going to win, to pay the team back for my mistake in race one", the winner commented.
Before his team change, Glock only had a few points but now he has achieved his fourth podium after six races in his new ride. The German jumped to fourth in the championship positions.
Super Nova racer`s Lopez surely wanted the victory, but the overwhelming pace of Glock put him away in the fight. The Argentinean moved to seventh in the tournament with 29 points and three podiums on the season.
"I don't feel right. I should be happy because after quali nobody would have bet on me fighting for the win. But today I was hoping to win. Timo was very motivated, and its just such a shame for the team", López explained.
British racer Hamilton finished another positive weekend taking two podiums and leaves with an advantage of 26 points over Nelson A. Piquet.
"For me it couldn't get much better. Considering our qualifying we've had a great weekend. The team did a fantastic job as usual. It was a bit unfortunate for Nelson, but that's the way it goes", Hamilton said.
The next round of GP2 will take place next weekend on the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest, Hungary.
