The Direxiv Motorsport drivers Clivio Piccione, Olivier Pla and Hiroki Yoshimoto had a frustrating first race at Hockenhim this weekend. Pla (David Price Racing) just missed out on a point, while Yoshimoto (BCN) battled with his car to the finish. Piccione (Durango) was on course for a top eight result when gearbox troubles forced him out.
Olivier Pla, David Price Racing:
9th position: 1:28.587
"This is the worst place to finish. I'm sure I could have been in the top four today but for two problems. One, was when my car went into anti-stall for no reason and left me without power for seven seconds, the second was a problem with a sticking nut in the pitstop. It was a real shame because the pace of the car is good."
Hiroki Yoshimoto, BCN Competicion:
13th position: 1:29.195
"I was just racing with myself really. We made a change to the car and it was the wrong one. It was as much as I could do not to spin the car."
Clivio Piccione, Durango Racing Team: retired
"The team did a great job with the pitstop and I was catching the cars ahead. But then I started to have problems down changing. I came into the pits and the team had a look and sent me out, but the problem was still there. I went out again and two laps later I became stuck in third gear. It's frustrating because the car was handling well and I could have scored points."
Misato Haga, President and CEO, Direxiv Motorsport:
"This was a frustrating day for our drivers: Olivier and Clivio both had mechanical problems and Hiro struggled with a lack of grip and oversteer. We hope these problems can be rectified by tomorrow."
