Trident Racing rounded out their weekend at Silverstone with a bitter taste in their mouth. In the second and last race of the GP2 Main Series weekend at the British venue, Stefano Coletti provided a sensational performance, as he proved to be the fastest man on-track over the whole distance. Unfortunately, his day was conditioned by a slight but crucial mistake at the start. While he was taking-off in 2nd, he stalled his engine and finally managed to leave the grid when the pack was already gone.
The Monaco-based driver put together a sensational recovery, but in the end he couldn't do better than 22nd place. Rodolfo Gonzalez finished in 13th place as he showed a positive pace before having to slow down due to a technical problem.
The GP2 Main Series will be back on-track in two weeks on the German Nurburgring racetrack, for the sixth round of the 2011 season.
Stefano Coletti (22.)
“What can I say. I firmly believe that there wouldn't have been chances for everybody else. After the issue at the start, our lap sequence left no doubts, as we were constantly the fastest with almost half a second between me and everybody else. That's just a proof of how we were performing. It's a pity, an average start would have been enough, and even losing some spots wouldn't have prevented me from cruising to win”
Rodolfo Gonzalez (13.)
“The start of the race has been really good for me. I lapped on some really good times and my pace proved really consistent. Then we suffered from a technical issue and lost speed. I couldn't do anything to defend myself, and of course I couldn't manage to improve my position.”
