Stéphane Richelmi to drive for Trident Racing in the 2012 GP2 Series season
Trident Racing is proud to announce the first driver set to join the team for the 2012 GP2 Series Season. One of the team's two Dallara racecars will be handed next season to Monaco-based Stéphane Richelmi, 21, who had made his debut with Trident Racing in the closing round of 2011 at Monza.
After having continued to work with Maurizio Salvadori and his team in post-season testing, his confirmation for the whole 2012 season has been a natural step. The whole staff is proud to continue the work started with Richelmi three months ago and everybody is determined to help him in the tough transition to the GP2 Series.
Trident Racing is also in advanced talks for the team's second ride. The first collective test of the 2012 season are already scheduled for the next 28th of February at Jerez de la Frontera.
“After the good showing had in my first GP2 Series weekend at Monza I decided to drive with other teams in testing to have a good term of comparison. In the end I decided to stick with Trident Racing because it was the best choice for me. The team trusted me, I know the whole staff really well and I have a good relationship with them. I'm really proud to have this opportunity and I can't wait to start the new season. There will be a lot of rookies in 2012 and and my goal for next year is to stay in the top-5. There are a lot of aspects that are key in GP2 racing, like qualifying for example. My goal is to be good results in these crucial aspects faster than possible."
