Trident Racing scored 15th place in race 2 of the sixth GP2 Main Series round of 2011 held at the Nurburgring with Rodolfo Gonzalez. Stefano Coletti had to retire after 6 laps due to an off-track exit.

The race started under a thick rainfall and with all the cars fitted with rain tires. Lap after lap though, the track started drying up. After a brilliant first part on the race, Coletti opted for an early pit-stop to get some slick rubber, but as it turned out, the German circuit was too slippery and he ended up spinning. Gonzalez ran a great race and kept holding a possible points position. Unfortunately, the Venezuelan was assessed a drive-through penalty by the race stewards due to an earlier contact.

Trident Racing will be back on-track in as little as 5 days, for the first practice sessions scheduled at the Hungaroring, close to Budapest.

Rodolfo Gonzalez (15th)

"My start has been good, and I stayed for some time among the leading pack, with a great pace. Then I touched with Cecotto, and race control punished me with a drive-through. It's a pity because with a drying track the car's handling kept improving and a points finish was already in our pockets."

Stefano Coletti (DNF)

“In the first few laps things went really well and I recovered a bunch of positions, coming really close to the points zone. When the tires started to wear out, I decided to play a gamble, and I got slicks sooner than everybody else. It could have been a winning move or a dismal, and it ended up the worst way...”.
