Fastest lap of the race in a weekend without satisfaction in Valencia
Valencia's sun does not smile to Stefano Coletti in a GP2 Main Series racing weekend that saw the Monegasque fast in the race but unfortunately far from points.
Coletti did not manage to confirm his usual performance on the single lap in qualifying due to the traffic in the final stages and ended the session with the sixteenth time (1'47.963).
At the start of the Main Race Stefano's determination and recover desire have been voided by the stall of the engine of his Dallara in one of the crucial moments of the race; slipped down in last position, Coletti has been forced to three pit stops but despite all of this he ended in seventeenth position under the chequered flag.
In the Feature Race the Trident Racing Team's driver started spotlessly and recovered several positions straight away. The passage on some carbon fibre debris produced by the collision of some cars in front of him caused a puncture requiring an unscheduled pit stop that compromised again the outcome of his race; back on track, Coletti pushed with constancy and set the fastest lap of the race before retiring due to technical reasons with two laps still to go.
"This is certainly a pity: I was very fast especially in the Feature Race and after getting back several positions I aimed to the points. The fastest lap of the race confirms the value we have shown so far therefore I reckon these results are just an unlucky parenthesis that can happen during a season ".
Stefano Coletti is now seventh in the classification with 14 points, 13 shy the third place. The GP2 Main Series will be back on track next 10 July in Silverstone (United Kingdom).
