UNLUCKY SILVERSTONE FOR SCUDERIA COLONI
Race 2 confirmed that the Silverstone weekend was a really an unlucky one for Scuderia Coloni. Michael Herck finished the race in 18th place, while Kevin Ceccon had to stop due to a suspension failure.
Starting from P24, Herck had to face a difficult race but boasted a clever driver, recovering six places with some good overtaking. The only difficult moment of his race was a contact with team-mate Ceccon, an event that led to the Italian’s retirement. Kevin didn’t have the best possible start but he had a very quick pace, so he needed just a few laps to reach Herck’s tail. On lap 6 he tried a move, but there was a misunderstanding and Michael closed the door: Ceccon tried to avoid the contact but in doing that he had a really hard impact with a kerb, damaging his rear suspension as a consequence.
Paolo Coloni: “There’s not much to say, apart from the fact that this weekend was really unlucky for us. We get home with results that don’t tell the truth on the potential showed by both our cars and drivers, and also with some damage to repair. Anyway, I don’t think that neither Michael nor Kevin must be blamed for what happened in the race. A contact can happen in that kind of situation”.
