Kevin Ceccon's race towards the higher levels of motorsport seems unstoppable. The young italian driver, who won the Auto GP Overall title just two weeks ago, put himself under the spotlight again today taking part in the Barcelona GP2 tests. In the setting that in the last few years proved to be the best feeder series to F1, Kevin confirmed all his talent clinching the fourth quickest laptime of the whole day with a 1'29"978 and closing the sessions ahead of much more experienced drivers. Ceccon, who was again behind the wheel of a Scuderia Coloni car, posted his best time in the morning session while in the afternoon, with the track being slower due to the heat, he decided together with the team to focus on race set-ups instead of performance. Despite this he managed to post the fifth fastest time of afternoon, just inches from the second spot. Tomorrow Ceccon will tackle another day of testing, again driving for Scuderia Coloni.

Kevin Ceccon: “My feeling with the GP2 car is improving quickly, and today was another fruitful day. In the morning we were always quick, and my time is just inches shy of the ‘first row’, so I’m happy with that. Also in the afternoon everything went as planned: the track was slower so a quick laptime wasn’t our priority, but despite that I was very close to the lead and I could have been quicker without the red flag and some traffic that completely ruined one of my laps. I hope that tomorrow will be just as good”.
