The Trident Racing Team's driver had some problems in qualifying held on Friday as he was slowed down by yellow flags during the fastest lap and then experienced some technical inconveniences limiting the performance of his Dallara until the end of the session.

Forced to start from the second-last row, the young Monegasque talent produced another great performance in the Main Race that allowed him to get back up to the thirteenth place in lap fifteen. At that point, thanks also to a perfect race strategy allowing him to be the first to put rain tyres on, a partial repetition of the exceptional performance of a month ago in Budapest seemed to be possible but a violent contact with Mikhail Aleshin's car running slowly ended early Stefano's race that was also injured in the impact.

Medical examinations held in Liegi's hospital highlighted a composed fracture of the third and fourth dorsal vertebrae with an estimated complete recovery time of about 25-30 days.

I suddenly felt an intense pain in my back together with a lot of difficulties to breath.

Stefano Coletti:

"Despite the problems in qualifying the race was turning to the positive side and I hoped to get another good result after the win in Budapest. The impact with Aleshin's car has been very strong: I just managed to get a glimpse of it in the spray cloud right before the contact; I suddenly felt an intense pain in my back together with a lot of difficulties to breath. The medical staff of the circuit first and Liegi University hospital's afterwards assisted me in the best possible way and I want to send them my most sincere acknowledgements. I will come back to Monaco as soon as possible and, after a few days of complete rest, I will start to work again to find my best shape".
