Clivio Piccione Impresses in GP2 Test with Durango
GP 2 prospect Clivio Piccione tested for 2004 International and F3000 Team Durango at Misano, Italy on Friday 12th November. The Italian based team tested Clivio as part of their driver evaluation programme for next season's GP2 Championship. After a strong season with Carlin Motorsport in the British F3 Championship, Clivio Piccione is one of the front runners for a seat in the newly formed GP2 series.
Testing under a wet set-up due to overnight and continued rain, Clivio put in the quickest time of the day 1.41 at Misano, a track he had never previously driven on before. He had mastered the track after just a few laps and was delighted to be the fastest of the 5 drivers in attendance.
"The wet set-up is typical for a winter test in November, but the car felt good today and I was pleased to be the fastest driver, especially as I had no previous experience of Misano. The team all worked very hard and I would like to thank them for their insight".
Ivone Pinton said:
"It has been a pleasure to work with Clivio in Misano last Friday. He showed us an outstanding physical preparation and we did not see any form of tiredness from him during the day. The other important aspect is the fact that he was already able to give to the engineer the right indications for the car setup and he felt all the changes we did on the Formula 3000. Even in bad weather conditions he proved he can be fast without making any driving mistakes. I am looking forward to testing Clivio again."
A second test for Clivio with Durango is currently being planned.
